The Application of Nitrogen Gas

Nitrogen gas is used in various applications, including cutting, purging, cooling, freezing, and welding manufacturing.

Used as a purge for stainless steel tube welds and an addition to shielding gases in GMAW (gas-metal arc welding) of austenitic stainless steel and duplex stainless steel.
Used as an assist gas for laser cutting of stainless steel, aluminum, and non-metallic materials

Manufacturing & Metal Fabrication Using nitrogen is an effective method to prevent oxidation. It also provides a safe and inert environment that “sweeps away” gases from furnaces. It is also used to enhance plasma cutting and as an assist gas in laser cutting.

Nitrogen Cylinder Valves
Gas cylinders are equipped with a valve that controls the gas release. A cap, collar, or neck ring protects the valve assembly when the gas isn’t used. When dispensing from a gas cylinder, a pressure regulator assembly controls the gas flow at the desired level.

– Cylinders: Compressed nitrogen can be delivered in various cylinder sizes:
40 L nitrogen cylinder contains 6m3 with 140 bar pressure; holds 10 m3 under 200 bar.
– Liquid nitrogen comes in various sizes of dewar for convenient access.
– Bulk Supply: Liquid nitrogen can be delivered by cryogenic tankers directly into onsite storage for use in large-volume applications, where it will remain as a cryogenic liquid in a vacuum-insulated vessel, providing several days’ supply that can be utilized on demand either as liquid or gas.
